What are skin pigmentation disorders?
Skin pigmentation disorders are patches on the skin that are visibly different from regular skin colour. They are not harmful to health, but are considered skin disorders because of unaesthetic appearance. They can be caused by exposure to UV radiation, as a side effect of medicines, use of cosmetics, or hormonal disorders. Irrespective of the actual cause of pigmentation disorders, this problem can be addressed by using treatments which are safe, non-invasive, effective, and available at a good price.
Skin pigmentation disorders – freckles, sun spots, melasma, or senile lentigines, may appear on the face (nose, chicks, forehead, jaw), décolleté, or hands.
Treatments for skin pigmentation disorders
Cosmelan is a two-phased skin lightening treatment initiated in a professional aesthetic medicine setting and continued at home. This formula contains agents that inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, a hormone responsible for the development of skin discolorations. Other agents contained in Cosmelan products block the synthesis of melanin – a natural pigment present in the skin, in order to reduce skin discoloration. Cosmelan treatments remove skin discolorations of any etiology in a very short time. Cosmelan is currently one of the most popular treatments to reduce pigmentation lesions on the face. It is safe and effective.
Dermamelan – depigmentation
Dermamelan inhibits hyperpigmentation and blocks the activity of enzymes responsible for skin discolorations, with a focus on pigmentation disorders of hormonal etiology. It was found to be equally successful when used to treat pigmentation lesions of any origin, and is especially recommended for removal of skin discolorations resistant to other forms of treatment. Dermamelan causes depigmentation, powerful exfoliation, and skin rejuvenation. It helps rebalance skin tone, improves the skin’s smoothness and suppleness. It is safe for all skin types, including for individuals with dark complexion. All Dermamelan treatments always must be preceded by a consultation with a dermatologist or a physician specializing in aesthetic medicine, and are then continued at home. The effectiveness rate in the treatment of skin patches and discolorations is estimated at 95%.
Laser treatment for skin pigmentation disorders
The advantages of laser use in the treatment of skin pigmentation disorders is that it damages cells that contain melanoma, which is a natural pigment present in human skin, without affecting healthy cells. The tissue integrity in the treatment area is not compromised, which makes laser treatments exceptionally safe. The light emitted by a laser beam is absorbed by skin structures that contain melanin, and is then transformed into heat. High temperature damages the target skin structures to eliminate darker patches on the skin surface. Laser treatments for skin discolorations are effective and safe, but the final results are visible in up to 4 weeks after treatment when the skin tissue regeneration is completed.
Exfoliation and microdermabrasion treatments
Problems with skin pigmentation disorders can be reduced by procedures typically used for using deep skin cleansing. The effects of microdermabrasion and exfoliation treatments (especially those based on acids) are similar to those obtained with Cosmelan or laser treatments. This type of treatments are especially recommended to eliminate heterogeneous discolorations or skin patches. The upper epidermal layers are removed together with pigmentation lesions in the epidermis. It stimulates the body to regenerate and create new healthy tissue. Microdermabrasion and exfoliation treatments are perfect skin cleansing procedures.
